Objective
The Hilton Hotel Corporation is a leading global hospitality company, with more than 3,000 hotels and 500,000 rooms in more than 80 countries. In the UK, Hilton has over 70 hotels and over 1,400 staff.
We have worked closely with the internal communications team at Hilton UK on a variety of projects.
With each of its venues across the UK responsible for its own PR and marketing, the possibility of presenting the media with inconsistent messages was very real. The internal communications team were keen to continue encouraging active PR on a local level, but wanted to ensure all the facts and figures being disseminated were correct.
Approach
The tool needed had to be accessible to all staff, updateable on a regular basis and attractive so it could be displayed on desks and at meetings.
Initially we looked into creating a digital application that could be updated centrally and delivered electronically. However, our research showed that not all employees had access to the internet.
We fulfilled the brief by creating the ‘Communications Toolkit’. Key information was presented on a series of indexed cards, easily referenced using a tab system. The slick looking device was flat, compact, could stand alone on a desk or be into a briefcase.
The Communications Toolkit was sent out to venues with simple guidelines on its use.
Results
We fulfilled the brief by designing a tool that effectively disseminated key information to a large number of staff, in a way they could all access, as well as delivering the project cost-effectively.
