Pantone’s 2011 colour of the year – PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle

Last week Pantone announced their colour of the year for 2011:

PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle

It’s an interesting choice, but we liked the rational behind it. “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going.”
– Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute

Learn more how to bring PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle into your life – and see why it’s the perfect hue for 2011.

Vote for your favourite charity

As we come towards the end of the year, we thought it would be appropriate to get in touch to say thank you for working with us. For many, it has been a difficult year – but we can look back with great pleasure at the good collaborative work we’ve done, and the strong working relationships we’ve built with customers and partners, all of whom we really like doing business with.

We generally try to come up with a small token or gift to show you our appreciation. Some of your feedback has suggested that these tend just to clutter up your desk.

So, this year we’re going to do something a little different. We’re proposing to use the money we might have spent on corporate gifts, and donate it to charity.

These charities are important to us – and we would like you to help us in the decision making process so that you’re involved. Vote for your favourite charity from above by clicking their logo, or alternatively propose one of your own, by replying to this email.

Our office will be closed from 17:00 on 24th December until 08:30 on 4th January. We’ll be back in touch early in the New Year to let you know where the money has gone, but in the meantime, we’d like to wish you all a pleasant festive break, and close by saying how much we are looking forward to continuing to work with you next year.

Many thanks

The surprising truth about what motivates us

The way we think affect effects how we work, which in turn affects the work we produce or the services we deliver. Seem obvious? Perhaps it does, but not all of us see what’s staring us in the face.

If you want to motivate people to do the right things, it’s important to motive them in the right way.

Back to school

Intermedia are going ‘back to school’ to help a local secondary school achieve Unicef’s ‘Rights Respecting Schools’ accreditation. We’re keen to see if some of principles big companies use to achieve cultural and behavioural change work with children in the same way. It’s a great opportunity to use engagement and involvement theory on Generation Z! And best of all, it’s all for free.

More Money, More Time, Less Stress

Our friends at Shirlaws are launching a new book next week.

The book is a quick 120-page guide to their approach to creating a sustainable, profitable business based on their experience of working with hundreds of owner managed businesses in the UK and all over the world. It is packed with advice, business tools, case studies and hundreds of top tips.

It has been described as “a complete toolkit for any business owner who wants to make their business work for them, not vice versa. Inspirational stuff.”

They’ve called the book “More money, More time, Less stress” after the Ronseal school of product naming. They believe that is exactly what business owners will get if they read and apply the book.

The book can be downloaded for free at www.shirlawscoaching.co.uk. If you like the book or just want to help they’d be hugely grateful if you could pass that link on to people who may benefit from reading it – or to the world at large – by which ever means is available to you (email, blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, weblinks….).

“Manual” handling

We’ve just completed a refresh and review of a major retailers operating manual focussing on loss prevention. Comprising over 250 pages of content, we’ve refreshed the look and feel of the documents, focusing on ease of use and understanding, pulling together a series of “How To” guides to help the reader through each step of the process. This was a mammoth undertaking, working closely in partnership with the client. We delivered the project to quality, cost and 3 weeks ahead of schedule.

Leading the way in management development

We’re just completed a mammoth refresh to reinvigorate a major retailer’s management development programme. With a host of workshops and on-the-job activities, it was a labour of love. In fact we need some refreshment ourselves! We await feedback from the trial with interest.

The uber cool uberkitchens.eu goes live

We’re pleased to have helped out our friends at über kitchens. They’ve now got a website that’s as good as their product.
